I opened PLUSkateboarding in July, 2003. I had wanted to open a skateboard shop for a long time before that. I’ve started skateboarding in 1986 and have pretty much been in love with skateboarding ever since then. I wanted to give my customers a place where they could go and feel welcome, and be amerced in skateboarding.
PLUSkateboarding has grown in many ways since we opened. We’ve torn down walls and expanded the physical size of the shop. Our product line is always changing and growing. Our customers are our family and our family has grown and expanded all over the world. We truly appreciate each and every person who comes into PLUSkateboarding.
We are very proud of the products and brands that we carry, and we want our customers to be satisfied with what they buy. Every brand that we sell, we’ve either skated, worn, or used before we bring it in.
We’ve worked really hard to promote and build our skate scene for all skaters around the shop. Since day one, we worked with the city of Farmington Hills to build a skateboard park. Fortunately for us, they were down to listen to what we wanted and after many, many years of fundraising and hard work, we have Riley Skate Park, a 30,000 sq. ft, free, cement, no pads, Grindline park!
It’s important to us to give back to the skateboard community. Without all our customers, we certainly wouldn’t be here…
We’ve run a Skateboard Camp since 2000. When the shop opened, we did it through the shop. It’s one of the successful programs that we did with the city that helped pave the way for Riley Skate Park. In 2010, we turned the camp into it’s own business and PLUS Skateboard Camp LLC was born. We continue to teach the camps in the Summer both at Riley Park and at other skate parks around SE Michigan. It’s important to us that if kids are going to go to a skate camp, they learn from people who LOVE skateboarding and will teach them what skateboarding is: FUN.
We hope to see you in the shop!
